Sumac Ridge Estate Winery Makes $1 Donation to Cancer Research for Every Bottle Purchased

Summerland, B.C. – May 3, 2016: Sumac Ridge Estate Winery is back to support the British Columbia Ride to Conquer Cancer.  To further the brand’s commitment to fighting cancer, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery has also committed to supporting the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer. One dollar from every bottle sold in May (B.C.) and in August (Alberta) goes to the B.C. and Alberta Cancer Foundations.

Sumac Ridge is proud to offer a seamless way for customers and fans to lend support to the cause in the months ahead. No matter where the bottle is sold - at the winery, from government liquor stores, private wine shops, or from participating restaurants - buying Sumac Ridge wine in May (B.C.) and August (AB) means making a donation to Ride to Conquer Cancer in both B.C. and Alberta.

In addition, two passionate cycling teams, known as the Sumac Ridge Riders, will take to the pavement for both events. The team members of the Sumac Ridge Riders are putting down allegiances and creating one team for one dream. Riders with ties to The Keg Steakhouse & Bar, Browns Socialhouse, Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Constellation Brands Canada, and the B.C. Restaurant and Food Services Association have been training, riding and fundraising together.

“Finding the cure starts with hope, commitment and compassion,” says Jody Levesque, Marketing Manager, Western VQA Estates, Constellation Brands Canada. "We are riding for a cure in our lifetime and this common cause unites us all. Sumac Ridge Estate Winery is proud to return as both a sponsor and a team to give back to the people of B.C., and now Alberta, who have supported us for over 35 years."

August 6 marks the beginning of the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day cycling event, that takes riders through the majestic Rocky Mountains; while the British Columbia Ride to Conquer Cancer happens three weeks later on August 27-28 between Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle, Washington. On top of Sumac Ridge Estate Winery's sponsorship, the Sumac Ridge Riders are also looking to beat individual and collective fundraising goals by raising more than $100,000. Those looking to get to know the team better or make a donation can visit the team’s website here.

Cancer touches a significant number of people in both provinces every single day. Money raised by The Ride to Conquer Cancer – more than $70 million in B.C. and $54 million in Alberta since 2009 – support leading clinicians, scientists, and researchers whose search for new discoveries and improved patient outcomes will have a real impact in our communities throughout the provinces, across Canada, and around the world.
